Apply for the colleges that you want to go to. Fill out your FAFSA, and do whatever you need to so that you can declare yourself as an independent student instead of a dependent of your parents. You will get a lot more in grants and better deals on student loans that way. You may have some student loans after college, but that isn’t bad because your college degree will help you get a better job in the long run. It’s a good debt.

As far as the learning disabilities, when you decide where you’re going call the disability concerns office at the university. You will need to have the paperwork that your doctor gave you and send that to them. The school will probably want to give you some type of assessment of their own to qualify you as having the learning disability. After that your request will go to a review board. They will decide which accomodations the university can give to you to help you succeed in school. They usually give you a card or other paperwork to show to your professor the first day of class. Typical accomodations might be extended exam time, or having a note-taker provided by the university. It depends on the school.

If there is a community college in the town you reside or where you want to reside, check out their admission services. Tell your story and request an interview with a vocational counselor to check out services and financial aid available.
