Is the October SAT harder than the SATs from all the other test dates?

I was planning on taking the SAT this comming October, but one of my friends told me that the October one is the hardest. She said it is because students have time to prep for it during the summer. So for the people who have taken the October SAT and SATs on other test dates, is the one on October really harder? Is it the same way for the Subject Tests? Because I am going to take the Subject Tests if the Reasoning Test is harder in October.

Each admin is designed to be equally difficult in terms of scoring. A “curve” is created for each admin, and that curve is “centered” into the entire year’s worth of admins. Hence, individual administration variation is signficantly reduced, so that there is no “hardest” admin.

Actually, your friend is probably wrong. CB doesnt release any info on the difficulty or scoring of exams, but the hardest admin (toughest to do well on) is either December or January.

A ton of students who are ill prepared for the SAT, but need to take it for college admission, take the test for the first time in the Fall of their Senior year. Although some students do prepare for the exam over summer it doesnt compare to the dramatic numbers who do not prepare at all for the SAT. Hence, I would disagree with your friend’s comments.

The only time you have uber-prepped students is in December (Seniors last chance) or in January (Juniors who killed the PSAT and think they will kill the SAT as well).

I don’t recall the SAT Reasoning test being any harder in October. Looking at my scores, I did the best on the last time I took it, in October last year. I don’t know about the Subject Tests.

But since they’re all supposed to be “standardized,” I don’t really think they can intentionally make them harder at a specific test date.

Good luck!

When I first took the SAT, my score was low in the mid 1700s but then I got the sat guide from guideparadise: http://www.guideparadise.com/index.php?option=com_guides&task=buy&id=10 and my score went up to 2190 (800 math, 760 writing, 630 reading). I highly recommend this guide for anyone wishing to get a higher SAT score.
