Tommy S: Although I understand, and disagree, with what you are saying. Your logic is flawed. In a group of any animals there will ALWAYS be ones that are considered “stupid” or less intelligent. Based on your argument, we would eventually wipe out every species on the planet. In that say, for example, you wipe out gerbils first..well eventually that will lead to rabbits, then dog, then rats, then chimps, and finally, humans. Another example: humans, chimps, dolphins, and pigs are considered some of the smartest animals on the planet. Your first choice to test on would be pigs, because they are less intelligent out of that group. Then dolphins, then chimps, and then…yep…humans.

The only cons that I know of are that, in the case of cosmetic testing, it’s cruel and unnecisary. Unlike medicines, we do not NEED make up. Secondly, in the case of medical testing, just becuase a drug has a certain effect on a rat, and therefore likely to have the same effect on humans, rats and chimps are not human. There is always a chance that a med will have the complete opposite effect than that of which was found in animal testing.

I think testing animals is good. Let’s get rid of all the stupid ones and keep the smart!
