I have retaken the SAT, what score will the colleges look at?

Will they look at the highest cumulative score, or the highest score on each section?

I’m wondering about both Cal States and Private Schools, specially USC

thanks!

Most college look at the highest scores from each section. For instance, you could have taken the SATs 3 times. You scored, 600, 630, 620 on the Reading, 580, 600, 630 on the Math, 560, 600, 620 on the Writing. The college will take the highest score out of each category and add them together. So your final score would be 630+630+620=1880.

Cal tech is a great school. The SATs requirements are listed below:

SAT – Crtiical Reading Middle 50%: 690-770

SAT – Math Middle 50%: 780-800

TPR Projected Range SAT Writing: 720-770

Good luck!

The SAT score that they will view is the one that YOU send them. Remember when signing up for the test you needed the college codes so it can be sent to them. I know in high school they make a big thing out of these test but honestly it doesn’t make you look all that great even if you do get a good score. What they do look at is constent good grades through out high school and AP (advance placement) classes. Even one of these classes will make you look good PLUS you won’t have to retake the class in college. Another BIG thing they look at is volunteer work. It doesn’t matter what as long as you give back to the community and it only needs to be like a few hours a week. This also looks really good when applying to a scholarship.

In all as long as you even a bit above average you’ll be okay.

Colleges will look at the highest score on each section, but you can take the SAT no more than 3 times for that to happen.

They are going to look at which ever scores you submit. With the SAT you can mixmatch. So if you have a higher score in the math section this time and you had a higher score in the English section last time, just put the two together. You will fill that out in your application to the university you choose.

Colleges don’t just look at the SAT, ACT, or any other test solely. It is possible for a retard to guess at the answers and almost max it. What colleges do is look at the transcripts of your high school years plus the score on the SAT.

to make it clear, colleges will be able to see all of your scores because they will all be on one score report…each college is different in which one they choose to use to evaluate your application…some colleges like to mix and match and others don’t, they like to stick to the highest total and not take the highest in each section from all the times attempted
