Well, I would suggest AT LEAST taking regular classes. Also get a foriegn language in. Look through the school subject guide and take extra courses that interest you (journalism my frosh year, now woodshop 1 & 2 my Soph year). If you can, pick up an honors course (you go much more in depth), finally, try to get into extra curriculars and later on, AP courses (potential college credit for only $75! (AP test fee).

Join clubs and extracurriculars that you like or think you will enjoy. Befriend an upperclassman, they can help you out a lot. Study, It is so important now because if you slip up now it can affect your entrance into the college of your choice and scholarship searches. Take the college entrance exams more than once ( at least 3 times if possible) or until you get an acceptable score that will allow you to skip the “remedial classes” in college. When you can take AP classes and College Prep/Dual credit classes do so if you think that you can make it through the class. Don’t push yourself to hard to fast though because you will begin to feel burned out and you and your grades will suffer as a result.

Without being too much of a snob, surround yourself with people who think as you do. Your question sounds very level headed, and I’m impressed.

Try to steer clear of troublemakers and goof-offs. This doesn’t mean you need to ignore these people or stick your nose up at them, just don’t let these people suck you in to their style of learning.

Take courses that you’re going to get something out of and you’re sure you will be excel at. Both guys and ladies can take shop and automotive classes these days. There’s no harm in learning a bit of both.

Good Luck!

you seem like a rising high school freshman.. in that case you would want to be ready for a good amount of work load, peer pressure and a lot of other stress… if your taking higher level classes.. you want to start off by reading for pleasure…i would recommend non-fiction books about topics such as world war I & II, future energy and fiction like macbeth, hamlet, all quiet on the western front.. etc.. high schools around the country vary.. in my high school.. all classes stress reading, writing, and critical thinking..

Don’t become a drug addict. And oh yeah … study. But most importantly don’t be a drug addict.
