what to do? please someone help!?

Ok… get ready b/c this is kinda complicated. I live in Indiana and I am 19 years old. I did not graduate high school b/c the last grade I attended was 7th. I was in 7th grade in my city and not doing good at all b/c of the people I was hanging around with, so my parents moved me away. Well, that didn’t help. They moved me to a school were I really didn’t do well at all. I acted out alot at school because I didn’t like it and wanted to move back to my home town. Eventually I was expelled and had to repeat 7th grade, then was sent to an alternative school as was expelled from there, so my middle school said I couldn’t come back there and the alternative school said the same. My mother was a single mom that worked full time, but still didn’t have enough money to move me to another town to go to school because it was so far away. So, I got a job and pretty much tried to grow up to quickly, now I have no high school education and no idea where to start since I left off at middle school.

Go to your local community college or even high school and ask to talk to a counselor who can help you figure out where to start. You may be able to start a GED program, but you need to get some first hand advice from someone who will know the system where you live. I expect something can be worked out for you if you want to get started on getting a high school diploma. Here is a site to help you get started. Best of luck with it.

First off I’d like to say that,in no way am I here to judge you. It’s hard enough asking for help. But to have someone talk against you b/c of the decisions that you and your mother made regarding your education early in life is unfair. Now my question to you is what is it that you want for yourself and are you doing this for yourself or for someone else? B/C if your town doesn’t offer certain resources you could always turn to the internet as you did with your questions. And know that recieving your GED is always another option. And most times there is always a Junior College or High School that offers GED classes and upon completion of the entire class program they provide a voucher to pay for it for you. If you take the test w/i an allotted time frame. Whatever you decide to do just understand that you should be commended for wanting to complete you education,no matter what grade you ended your education in. I’m sure that your daily life struggles where life lessons that you won’t easily forget. BTW have your boyfriend help you that way you know tht you two can get through this together. So keep your head up,press on,and don’t worry about what other people have to say(there oppinions don’t matter anyway). Just remember if you go back and finish you didn’t quit you took a break.

You write well and that is an advantage, The best thing going for you is your strong desire to obtain a high school diploma.

See if your community has a evening high school which you can attend. Contact your local school district about that.

Some local colleges may offer high school level classes for credit.

There are some on line high school classes at a reasonable cost.

You can apply for and take the GED where you will take a test and will receive a high school equivalency diploma upon passing the examination. There are in most communities paces where you can take classes to prepare you for the examination for free or for a very slight fee. Again your local school district should be able to supply you with information. Some churches and local agencies may also offer this class. There are also books that can be used to help you study for the equivalency examination.

Do not become discouraged. You are embarking upon something that is not easy but is worth the effort.

First I think you are doing great by admitting to your mistakes….It takes a much bigger person to do this than you realize! I would recommend working to get your GED first. Try to contact your local Adult Education and Literacy Program in your area. We have one here and they actually help you get your GED along with walking you thru the areas you need help in. They will show you exactly what to do….Its very simple in taking this step. Try this link and see if this helps you out for your state… if not… call your local health department and ask them who to call OR better yet contact the local County Judges office. A lot of times they are connected with the Adult Education centers thru the County. Good Luck with your new adventure…I think your mother would be very proud of you!!

The best place to start would be looking into getting your GED. Its often simpler (paperwork wise) than going back and getting adiploma. With your GED, you can usually apply to community college for a general arts and science program. From there you can move on to more specialized programs, or even university.

Good luck! I hope you succeed!

Try to get a GED. After GED try applying to a community college. Do well there and apply to a four year college. Pursue a major that you are interested in. Good luck!
