We do not live in a democratic society. We live in an elitist democratic society. It is not the “common vote” that determines what our laws state. If that were true, slavery, discrimination, homophobia and misogyny (I spelled that wrong?) and such would be rampant because the common vote would have demanded such. The “leaders” or “elitists” in society are armed with the responsiblity to keep our country a land of freedom and rights in spite of the common man, not because of him.
