What exactly is the use of me learning this? [[ Biology/Science ]]?

Just the usual question from a teenager saying,

“Why am I learning this? What use is it?”

And it’s about Biology/Science.

I want to get a career in something artsy. My dream job is interior design, but coming from my best friend’s mom, the competition is deadly. So something artsy or maybe an office job?

What exactly is the point of me learning it?

if you care, I’m fourteen years old.

Something artsy…hmmm…Did you know that almost all art has origins in biology/science? Think about textiles such as basket weaving or print making. Insects, plants, shellfish, etc… were used, sometimes mixed with other things or had processes done to them, (chemical compounds – chemical reactions) for pigments. The list goes on and on. The point is, how can you create something out of nothing. You can’t. So, in order to understand those things around you, you study science.

It’s required to get into college.

It’s that simple.

You have to take ALL the MATH, SCIENCE, ENGLISH and POLITICAL SCIENCE required to get into college.

Otherwise you major in STUDY HALL and that get’s you an 18K a year job stocking shelves at K-Mart on Thanksgiving day.

You’re only out with a STUDY HALL major is if you “unschool” in something practical.

I did photography, darkroom, color work, film work, audio work. I did it since I was 11.

That got me a job stocking shelves in a Photo Department, which got me a Department HEad job, which got me a Wholesale job, which got me a District Manager job, which got me a Regional Director of Customer Service job.

ALL in the photo industry.

I had to work my way up the ladder by age 25.

By age 25 I was doing OK compared to most kids at K-Mart, but NOT as compared to someone with a BA degree.
