Should kids who are disruptive, violent, etc-be kicked out of school?

Aren’t these kids keeping the other kids from learning? Should the parents have to attend school with them or something? Could this help our struggling schools? I am not talking about a single bad day/outburst.

Unfortunately most state and federal laws tie the hands of teachers and administrators. Every child has a right to a free education in our nation, but that now means that teachers are mandated to tolerate every single jerk behavior these kids can throw at us. So the “bad” kids get in the way of everyone else’s rights (the right of students to learn, teachers to teach).

Having parents shadow their student is effective some of the time, but most parent are unwilling to take the time from work.

We have the federal mandate “no child left behind”

how about “NO CHILD CHEATED OUT OF AN EDUCATION BY RUDE A**HOLES”????

for some of these kids it becomes a game to see if they can keep the teacher from teaching. They think they can do anything with impunity, and they certainly do not care if they are stepping on teachers toes or their peers rights.

bugs bunny used to have that humorous bit about “do we shoot him now or shoot him later?”

now bugs, now!

No, not always. I am a perfect example. I was disruptive for a while because I was being bullied + wasn’t being challenged with my school work. I was finally tested after my parents 3 years of persistance, and was raised 2 grades higher than the one I was in. I was then a perfect student, and away from the ‘bullies’.

Now, children that don’t want to learn that are in highschool – that’s the point in which I believe it is suitable to give them a straighten up or get out attitude. The kids that are like this at high school age rarely listen anyhow. I don’t think they should be turned away from the school however – they should be treated on an individual basis, taken to the guidance counselors or principal (depending on how the school is ran) & the parents or guardians should be made involved.

When kids are disruptive a violent it is usually a sign of a bigger problem at home or in the school with some of the other kids. It is unfair to the other kids who are attentive and want to learn. These kids need to be moved into a separate class that has counselling as well as standard education criteria. I think that their parents should have to be held responsible and pay the extra cost it is not up to the education system to raise these children only educate them. We live in a time that if you spank your child you are guilty of child abuse this is ridiculous there are times that a spanking is the best thing for a kid, I’m not talking about beating your child but a firm smack on the a s s. Parents its time to take responsibility for the children you bring in to this world.

One of the strengths (and ironically weakness too) of the American education system is that strive to bring all kids to a certain level of academic achievement. This is a wonderful thing because in theory, everyone has the same educational opportunity. The fallacy is that not everyone is the same academically. So there are times that resources are wasted on students who neither deserve or want the education provided by the government. The subsequent waste of resources means that some students fall through the cracks. It is the goal of all educators to teach as many students as possible, an ever increasing number of standards that may or may not be relevant to anything. This gets to be frustrating for everyone involved. To add insult to injury, people with no educational expertise continue to make educational policy. Also funding for education continues to decline while the demands on the educational system continues to increase. All the while, we are told that No Child is Left Behind!

So what would kicking them out of school do? They would then grow up to be adults who are disruptive, violent, etc. and illiterate and uneducated as well.

They need to stay in school, but they don’t necessarily need to stay in the same classroom because they are hindering the progress of the rest of the class. There should be special classes and in some cases, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a very small class of offenders and their parents, because in most cases, they have learned this behaviour somewhere.

Yes, but the government doesn’t want more of them out on the street so it may be a bigger problem in the long run than keeping them in the schools–an unfortunate situation that’s not easily resolved.
