First, you have to have a daughter who is willing to help make and stick to the plan (assignments) while mom is away. And mom is going to need to find some help, unless you are an expert in all subjects. Look for a home school organization in your community. They will be able to help you get started and are a great support system. Some communities share resources such as a mom who is good teaching History might agree to teach two or three other kids History at the same time. That cuts down on each mom’s work load

As far as a degree, I don’t know of a state that requires a degree. Start with your local school district office and tell them you plan to home school and need to know what your states requirements are.

I do know that there are some free online virtual options where you would need high speed internet access and a web cam. It would be like video classes, by a real, certified teacher. Do a google search on that as well.

I obviously don’t know your exact situation or motives for wanting to homeschool your daughter, but I have succesfully homeschooled 2 children for the last 7 years, 4 of those I was working part-time. It’s a matter of commitment, priorities, support and a flexible schedule.

School is more than books. She is putting the child at a disadvantage socially. It has to do with decison making skills which are practiced in school. No teaching degree is needed.
