Since your English seems reasonably good, I’m assuming you moved to the U.S. or U.K.?

I would start by finding a club/afterschool project to join. This gives you a potential “new friend” base with people who already share your dedication to sports or band or chess or whatever the club happens to base itself around.

Outside of that, force yourself to be friendly, talk to a lot of other people, ask if you can join groups at lunch. It’ll take time but usually people only reach out if they are reached out to first. Good luck!

A new school AND a new country must seem hard. I assume you are in USA. If so, just know that even though you might feel shy about how where you are from differs from where you are now, you actually have a special opportunity to teach others about another country. Don’t ONLY talk about that, (American students are pretty ingrown), but don’t be embarrassed. Start thinking about it as something that makes YOU very special and unique. Ask questions that show you are trying to learn about THIS country, too. Also, you have better spelling and english than some American children who are asking questions, and this will help you!

What I would do is just talk to people every chance you get. It will be a little harder if you’re shy but try as hard as you can to just talk to people. It’s really the easiest way to make friends.

Definitely make an effort to talk more to people. Just go ask if you can sit with someone at lunch! Most people won’t refuse and then you may make some great friends.

Get involved in clubs a lot.
