Lets say I wanted to organize a club at school….?

and the club was about drug and alcohol awareness. Do you think anyone would want to join?

Ok, so me and a friend want to start a club at school about drug and alcohol abuse/ awareness…

We know we need to talk to the principal but before we do we want to make sure we have alot of ideas to bring to him.

What are some ideas you might have on this topic for a club.

Oh, this club would be designed for 7-12 graders (thats the grades that attend our school)..we are in 11th grade.

any ideas, critiques, fun ways to share this info, has anyone personally organized a club at school and know anything that could help?

plz and thanks for any help!!

Start by conducting a survey of your classmates – – Do they think the topic is important, would they participate, etc.

You should also solicit the support/championing of a popular teacher.

When you get the survey results, and assuming they indicate that the students want to participate, present the results in person to your Principal (be sure to have the supporting teacher with you as well.)

If the principal agrees, then it’s just a matter of announcing the first meeting (time/location) and having your vision for the club ready to discuss. Be sure to let everyone who participates have a say in how the club functions, what the charter should be and (most importantly ) let them develop the objectives/goals that the club will achieve over the course of the school year.

Your idea sounds GREAT!!!

I personally don’t think that many kids would willingly sign up for that club. The kids that do go to that club would not be the kids that need to hear the information. If you want to help struggling addicts or influential kids then you probably won’t be able to get them to come unless its required. I think that your idea is good but you may need to rethink the way you run the club. What about a life skills club? That doesn’t sound as intimidating as a Drug Awareness Club. That almost sounds like a boring, uninteresting, academic, old person, club. If you had a club that centered around something very general, like life skills, you could devote a single meeting to drug awareness but you wouldn’t have to do that daily.

at my school we already have program called dare and great dare is drug abuses resistance and education and great is gang resistance education and training and you have to go to it. but Im not sure if kids would want to go to something like that but maybe parents would want to put there kids into it anyway it would be good to get like sometimes an adult that used to be on drugs and how bad the experience of the pain and the rehab was and get the stufft that is inside the drugs like a chart thing and just like a few pacets and stuff like that I’m pretty sure the pricible would be more than ok with it as long as you have a teacher for the club good luck and greart job
