Everyone is nervous on there first day of high school. Its just like when you started at middle school. You just have to relax and talk to some people when you first get there and pretty soon you will start to feel at ease. It is a lot different than middle but not in a bad way. For me when I went to high school I found it to be a lot more mature in a lot of ways than middle school ever was. I was pretty nervous on my first day but because it was a nice community and all the faculty and staff were nice it helped me to feel better. Also if a lot of your friends will be there with then you will have a much better time. There is really nothing to worry about. In a couple of weeks you will be so used to how things are going that you won’t notice anymore. It will only be scary if you let be that way. And don’t take any crap from your only siblings. A lot of the things that you hear people talking about high school is mostly not true. I would recommend taking an extra curricular activity so that you can make lots of friends and have fun doing something that you enjoy. For me it was band. My friends and I built so many memories that I consider the last four years of life in high to be the best. Don’t worry about what people say and if they are just trying to scare you. Just remember high school is only as scary as you let it be. Good Luck and I’m sure that you will build a lot of happy memories with your friends as well.

It is a change and any change is scary at first. Go to your school’s freshman orientation, find your classes, find your locker and meet new people. You will find that after the first week of school you will find that it wasn’t at all as bad as you thought it was. Just be yourself and don’t be afraid to take a few risks. Remember, high school (or anything for that matter) is what you make it: so make it fun!

it is not going to be nearly as frightening as you think. No one is going to put you in a locker or trashcan, you will not be the only one lost, upperclassman hardly notice you, after about the first week you’ll blend right in and feel comfortable.Best of luck

EDIT:if you missed orientation then you can always visit the school with a parent or guardian on your own time and find out where your classes and locker are located. Its definitely a good idea to take the time to do

It’ll be scary during the first week or so. Missing orientation isn’t a big deal. You’ll make friends in class and learn your way around school, eventually.

Just ignore them…I’m going into 9th grade too! All my older friends say you will <3 it and that it is so much better than junior high. Just have confidence and know that everything is going to be fine. Just think...prom and so many more new, fun things! =]

honestly, it can be a little scary. you’re in a bigger school than the year before with alot of new people. i say just make the best out of it. just pretend like you’ve been there forever. make friends, be outgoing. join a team or club. get comfortable, afterall, you’ll be there a while. meet people with the same interest, maybe different to widen your variety. i felt the same way about my first year, you’ll be fine.

it’s going to be a little scary at first, but after the first day you’ll realize that there’s really nothing to be scared of.

your going to get a lot of, stupid freshmen kind of things, so avoid the following things, asking upperclassmen about things that go on in school, if you have a question like that, direct it to a teacher, a fellow freshmen, or a sophomore, sophomores are more likely to be nicer to you because they were you last year.
