How come kids change when they go into high school?

Like my sister is a going to be a junior (11th grade) she says that all the kids she knew in middle school that were grades younger, said they were all jerks, and acted like they were hot stuff, and then when they got into high school they grew up and were totally quite, why does that happen?

Well you can say the same thing for quiet kids in middle school, they can become loud and roudy. People grow up in different ways.

Part of it is that people get over being in puberty. Puberty is like being insane for a year or so. When you get to the point you don’t have ten people in the room going through puberty, things really calm down.

Secondly, grades *count* much more in high school than they do in middle school. Students start to actually care whether or not they’ll get a good scholarship or whether they’ll have to deliver pizzas all night and study in their spare time. Here’s a hint: getting scholarships, living in the dorm, studying instead of working grunt jobs–that’s the sweet life!

The folks that become independent learners (self-discipline is remembering what you want) begin to exert a kind of positive peer pressure on the ones who are still playing around. Eventually, the doofi begin to realize nobody’s paying attention to them, and they calm down, too.

People change and mature as they grow older. As people grow older their world becomes bigger, there are more responsibilites, and there are more expectations which hopefully make people more mature.

Just imagine, why in Kindergarten did you like to watch kid audience shows like Barney? What do you watch now (maybe MTV? ABC? NBC? FOX? The CW?)? Why did you change from watching a big purple dinosaur to watching real life people tackle tough issues? It’s because you grew up and matured.

because it is a popularity race, and then when they go to high school they realise that they have to knuckle down and get good grades, it’s same over here in the UK, from year 7-year 10 everyone is wanting to show off and be Mrs. Popularity and then in the last year (11) it sort of hits them that if they want a decent job then they need to get good grades in their exams. of course you still get people who mess about, but it’ll hit them eventually.
