Help, I am a freshman in high school, and my grades are sinking!?
In my elementary/middle school I got a 100 on almost every test! This year isn’t much harder, but the tests and quizzes are harder. I am in all the advanced classes, and I got under a 90 on every test/ quiz so far! Help please!

What type of help or you seeking, try and get someone in your class to help u study. It never hurts to ask for help. Instead of playing games, talking on the phone, watching TV, or what ever you do in your spare time, instead of doing those things you can go to the library and study, and read your material. Just push your self a Lil harder, because it’s not a regular class that your dealing with. This class is grading you more harder than the regular grades. Do give up, believe in yourself!

I would say you are being a little hard on yourself. You didn’t say exactly what you are getting on quizzes, just that it was under 90. In the upper 80’s is a solid B and for being a freshman and taking advanced classes, I would say you are doing fine. You are used to 100’s and so I can see why you are disappointed, but cut yourself some slack. Keep studying and you will get there.

Many students find it more difficult to retain good grades in high school than in lower schools. The teachers tend to be more demanding and have higher academic standards. There is less consideration for you as a person and more as a student.
That said speak to your teachers and ask them for their suggestions.Volunteer to do extra-credit reports. Ask questions for things that you do not understand. Participate in class. Study with a friend who gets better grades than you do.
Go to extra help classes if available. Two excellent free internet sites are pathwhelp.com and jiskha.com

Perhaps you are still adjusting with the pace of high school life. Take your time with studying and don’t be so harsh on yourself…just because you got below 90 doesn’t mean that you punish yourself!
And oh, high school comes once in a lifetime so enjoy it!
