Most schools do not allow paddling anymore. In our state, N.C. it is legal! It is seldom used though, as most boards of education have voted against it as a policy. I do remember being lined up for a paddling outside the principals door for talking in lunch. The only problem was….I DIDN”T TALK! I am thankful today’s school discipline methods are more humane. There is still the occasional kid who might benefit from knowing the paddle lurked in the principal’s office, but those are few and far between.

No…now they let them run rampant, allowing them show the discipline that used to be expected of a 2nd grader, while they test the dickens out of them to try to show that things are going well.
Not all schools, mind you…but take a look at what kids were expected to do 60-100 years ago, and it puts today’s standards to shame.

No, and they didn’t when I was in school either (50’s and 60’s).
But, we had much more respect for teachers, police and adults than most kids do today.

No, they are not supposed to touch the child in a hurtful way or it is considered child abuse.
