Can I get into a prestigious university?

I have a 3.7 GPA, my SAT score was 2010, and my ACT score is a 32. I have over 300 hours of community service (hospital volunteering, museum volunteering, and more). I was an intern in a laboratory for one summer. I also assisted teachers a science museum, and taught kids. In addition, I’ve been involved in the debate team all four years of high school, the yearbook club for three years, and the international club for one year. I took dance lessons for 10 years, singing lessons for 3 years, and swimming for 1 year. I also organized a fundraiser, and a teaching program.

First off, I know my SAT score sucks, but will that hurt my chances? I also don’t have any sports, and I was also never the captain of any club, or held any office position. Will that hurt my chances?

I’m looking along the lines of Cornell, Columbia, Georgetown, and Carnegie Mellon. Will I be able to get in?

Admissions officers place a lot of value on your personal statement as well as recommendations. (I think this is what got me in)

I had a lower SAT score but I still got into two of the Universities you listed. I never played sports and was never the “leader” of any group.

If you are concerned about your SAT scores, take the SAT II in a subject of interest to you.
