In Japanese mythology there are seven lucky gods.

1. Ebisu, god of fishers or merchants, often depicted carrying a cod or sea bass.

2. Daikokuten (Daikoku), god of wealth, commerce and

trade. Ebisu and Daikoku are often paired and represented as carvings or masks on the walls of small retail shops.

3. Bishamonten, god of warriors.

4. Benzaiten (Benten-sama), goddess of knowledge, art and beauty, especially Music.

5. Fukurokuju, god of happiness, wealth and longevity.

6. Hotei, the fat and happy god of abundance and good health.

7. Jurōjin (Gama), god of longevity.

In Christianity the number 7 is considers God’s number.

Here are some other reasons: (I have answered this question before in school)

There are a lot of famous sevens: Seven Wonders of the Ancient World … to seven days of the week.

Seven more sevens:

Pythagoreans called it the perfect number, 3 and 4, the triangle and the square, the perfect figures.

Seven ancient planets – the sun was the greatest planet of the ancient seven and next to the sun, the moon, changing in all its splendour every seventh day. Seven visible planets and luminaries (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn)

Seven Deadly Sins

Seven Seas

In Chinese culture, the seventh day of the first moon of the lunar year is known as Human’s Day to be celebrated as the universal birthday of all human beings.

Basically the number seven has its roots in a lot of cultures and religions. In the Bible the number for Satan (and sometimes evil) is 666. The number for God is 777 or just 7. The number 7 shows up several times in the Bible. So it became lucky a long time ago. Next ask if seven is lucky why is 13 unlucky 🙂 Oh and that other guy stole part of my answer…lol

We have a heptagon as one of our winning logo images because seven is the lucky winning number in some traditional games of chance. We like the septilateral shape and, just for fun, have gone heptamerous in our design. Win one of our main prizes and you will be in seventh heaven!

Why is seven lucky? We are not entirely certain – but we did find many special sevens : from the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World … to seven days of the week.

Seven more sevens:

Pythagoreans called it the perfect number, 3 and 4, the triangle and the square, the perfect figures.

Seven ancient planets – the sun was the greatest planet of the ancient seven and next to the sun, the moon, changing in all its splendour every seventh day. Seven visible planets and luminaries (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn).

Books …The Seven Pillars of Wisdom by T E Lawrence, Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven series … Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective People … Reiki and the Seven Chakras …

Seven Deadly Sins.

The Trumpton fire brigade. (Pugh, Pugh, Barney, Magrew, Cuthburt, Dibble and Grub)

Seven Seas
