help with NHS please?

OK so I was chosen to be able to apply to become a member of the NHS. However, I have a problem with the application. It asks for community service done, jobs done, and sports done. I haven’t done any of those and that’s mainly what the application is about. I have really good grades (i almost have a 4.0 GPA, and required GPA here to become member is 3.6), but i don’t think that’s enough. I’m no trouble maker, good student in class, but that’s it. Should i even bother anymore to apply for NHS due to the fact that i barely meet the standards? Or is it possible to write such a good paragraph (part of the application) that it will change their minds? If there is one, what should I write about?

There is a certain GPA cutoff for NHS. Generally anyone over this level is automatically invited to apply to NHS. However, National Honor Society is not just about grades — many 4.0 students do not get in. It is equally about leadership, service and citizenship. That’s why the application stresses these areas so much.

If you have doubts about this, why don’t you ask the NHS sponsor at your school? Hopefully they will be honest with you!

I’m going to have the same problem as you this year when I go back to school. D:

If there is a reason why you couldn’t participate in sports/activities, then I would say go for writing the paragraph.

Whatever you do, don’t decide not to apply; after all, there is nothing to lose.

Perhaps you could get a letter of recommendation from one of your teachers?

I honestly don’t see why “sports” is included on the application in the first place. I mean community service/jobs I understand, but sports? Not everyone enjoys getting all sweaty and dirty….

Idk… I hope you get in though, best of luck to you ♥
