I think finding a counseling job is tough, w/o experience teaching around here is close to impossible . . . my sister is a counselor at a school & she tried for a couple years and couldn’t find anything, and had to keep teaching. We are in TX and there are tons of teaching jobs. She just ended up getting a job as a counselor for one she applied a for 2 years ago and the counselor decided to retire this past year. She got the job where my mom teachers & in the school district her husband also teaches in. I think it takes knowing someone and being somewhere at the right time. I’d say get your resumes to as many places as you can, but most of all if you have relatives that teach or are in administration in another state, find out about their school counselors and if they are getting ready to retire. The are a lot of early education schools opening around Dallas area as well. Also, some school districts have career fairs too, the best way to find if there are job openings, go to that school district’s website. Good luck!
