You can list the pros and cons of each. Experience has its advantages because it is directly related to the tasks. Learning how to fix cars from their paint job to the frame can be helpful, but when they become a mechanic, their job will probably specialize in something like body repair, brakes, air conditioning, or transmissions. Also, reading how to fix a car does not quite compare to having already fixed one, especially for visual learners, because the reader has not seen how the parts fit together and the difficulties of getting the part and bolts in place.

The advantage of an education is it teaches how to do something right, whereas experience might be from trial and error or involve a wrong procedure. Would you rather your surgeon study the practice of brain surgery or learn by doing? Or with your mechanic example, how many repairs are you willing to pay for until the mechanic guesses correctly? The mechanic might replace a part, but overtightened a bolt that will wear out the part sooner. Your car drives okay, but it is not fixed correctly. Another advantage of education is that it teaches new technologies, such as somebody with 30 years experience on a typewriter is not as good as somebody who learned how to use Word to go back and edit such as using Spell Check, fix clauses, remove double words (i.e. the the), capitalize, underline, and boldface.

that is a tricky question but consider this…… these days you have to have a qualification to get the job BUT for most you need to have alot of experience to get that job. now, in a case where u have the education u might not get it coz you dont have experience and vice versa you might have the experience but cant get it coz dont have the education…..

to me a person should try get both at the same time….. while studying apply for a part time job or attachment somewhere n that way you get both!!!

or in a case where you are working for someone like fixing cars n things (for example) you have all the experience, you can always go and study to gain the education….. depends on what you chose to do

A guy with the A+ in academics is better off in the real world. He can learn to fix a car on the internet if he wants to.

I know a dozen people with masters degrees that are waiting tables!! They cant get a job because they have zero experience. Get your foot in the door, get some experience, make sure its the career for you, then go to school. You will be more valuable and start out with better pay after school. Even in the case of the mechanic, he could go to a technical school and because he has experience… will do better then the masters student with none.

Good luck, thats a tough one to answer definitively!!!

I say experience, because the brain can “register” or remember things better if you can “see” it, “touch, feel”, hear it, smell it. And you get that by experience. Education is good, too but experience I think is BETTER.

well just an opinion,i think its education…remember thet you are studying so i think your proffesor will be more motivated in your study-passion than your indifferent experiences…of course teachers will look on their side than your side

the one who is educated is better, but the one who is experienced is wiser.

educated = knowledge, while experienced = wisdom.
