I’m an exchange student in the US. this year I got a letter of recommendation from one of my high school teachers and I wrote a thank you letter. take a look. is it OK ??
I know its kind of short but……. I even included our naitonal coat of arms. lol

It’s fine. High school teachers probably don’t get many thank you letters for their letters of recommendations.
If anything, you might want to add a sentence or two that somehow reminds him of you. Maybe relate why you knew that you could ask him for a letter of recommendation in the first place.
