You must complete your a-g requirements with a 3.0 or higher (in your sophomore and junior years, freshman and senior grades are excluded in the GPA calculation) to be eligible to apply to the UC campuses. If you have less than a 3.0, you may be eligible to apply if you score, on average, 700 or better on all sections of the SAT Reasoning Test and the two Subject Tests (see additional details on satisfying this requirement here: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/exam_eligibility.html ).

Well usually you apply before your first semester of your senior year is complete. Check with the admissions office there, and ask if it is possible to submit your first semester transcript after the application. I know some schools will do that with SAT scores, so they might do it for grades. And if all else fails, take a semester or year off of school and apply later. This way, you can put your senior year grades into your application, raising your GPA a little bit. Hope that helps

Extracurriculars are great, but when it comes down to it, if you don’t have the grades they don’t matter. Maybe you should cut down on some of those activities to allow for more study time, and work hard next year! I’m sure you could bring it up with a whole year to work with. Just make sure not to get lazy in the middle of the year. Don’t get senioritis! It’s VERY easy to give up when the end is in sight. Remember how much you want to get into that school to help motivate you, and take some honors classes… they always look good on an application.
