Should I transfer to a public highschool?

I’m currently a freshman and I am enrolled in this really top notch highschool, but I’m not all too happy with it. The school I currently go to is both middle school and high school, with sixty students in each grade in highschool (thirty being from the previous students who were enrolled in middle school, and thirty newly accepted students).

My problem is, I feel like I’m missing out on the highschool experience. I want to switch to a public highschool, but i’m not sure whether i’d transition very easily. Also, my current high school is really expensive and I kind of want to give my parents a break from the financial burden.

What should I do? Should I wait a little and then decide? I’ve been in school for about a month now and so far, I’m disliking it very much. I think I have too much homework and I need a break from all the work. If I choose to go to public, will I regret it? Help? 🙁

Public school is almost a different planet than where you are now. Of course it’s a matter of opinion and values, but I think most people would say most of the changes you’d see would be for the worse.

If you intend to go to college, you’ll have a much easier time there if you stay where you are. Public schools don’t give a very good education these days; even many years ago when I went to college, the kids from public school were poorly prepared for it, and it’s only gone downhill from there. If you have a lot of homework, it may not be much fun, but you’re getting a much better education. Stick with it, and in future years you’ll be glad you did. Your parents are probably aware of this and are willing to pay the cost.

Just an observation along that line: You seem very articulate and well spoken. That’s really rare these days in anyone anywhere near your age, and you wouldn’t have it if not for the education you’ve had up to now. Just compare it to a lot of what you see here in Yahoo Answers, and you’ll see what I mean. Just being able to put together a comprehensible sentence and spell correctly puts you head & shoulders above most high school students.

Of course you’ll want to discuss these issues with your parents, and make a decision with them.

I think it’s a good idea u wanna go to a public high school. It’s really great and u probably won’t have as much H.W. If u do transfer i doubt u’ll regret it. Sometimes i wonder how it will be like being in a private school.
