I have a school law question.?

Ok im in band in high school. our school day starts at 7 55 am and ends at 3 05 pm. Well in our band class on tuesdays and thursdays our band teacher makes it mandatory that only the percussion (drums) have to be there at 6 45 am. It is worth 10 points. Well I had a note saying that i could not make it to any of the practices because of my moms job but i still get 0s every time i dont go. can they legally do this.

Yes, they can do that. They are the

School. They get to do what they want.

Teachers are not prone to allow students leeway on grades, it wouldn’t be fair to the other students, right?

Maybe you could make some other arrangements? Good luck!

Can they do this? Yes. Band is an Elective. If we were talking about a required course, such as Government (or Civics, or what ever they call it now) it might be a different story.

I suggest talking to somebody with a car and getting a lift early those days, or try to appeal to your band director for some alternative.

If school don’t start till 7:55 how can he say you have to be in at 6:45. and if you can’t make it do to transportaion. How can you get a 0

Sounds like someone need to report this.
