Hello Richard Nixon’s Head ( this is a great handle ! ) :

Totally Agreeable !

Can you imagine one being elected President ?

It might go something like this :-

President :- ” Who is on the phone for me ? ”

Secretary :- ” Yassar ! ”

President :- ” I didn’ t ask you a ‘yes or no’ question ! ”

And if this same person wrote a letter to the United Nations saying that war is inevitable , it could read :-

Wore ! …. as in vegetable !

Communication on a whole, but especially writing has been on a downhill slope for a long time now.

Young people often have been given the belief that being somewhat proficient is all they need; we do not need to know how to spell, we have spell check; hand writing is a thing of the past, we have the computer and so on.

However, looking at the bigger picture, education as a whole has become disconnected from what people really need in life.

We waste to much time on non-academics, have far to few hands on learning opportunities, like internships, and apprenticeships for young people to learn needed skills.

As for the future a suggestion would be that education should focus much more on math, reading, and writing; then allow high schools to specialize courses in different area’s, like technical, business, computer/robotics, health care/medical, general (for college the bound) etc.

Young people would than have a choice in attending schools that will teach them what they need to learn for the jobs. or career of their choice.

Businesses should join hands with these schools, and give guidance to them as to what is needed for these jobs, and provide intern/apprenticeships to the students in order for them to get both the theoretical, and practical knowledge they require to be success full.

Colleges, and Universities would continue being the places of higher learning for those who desire such.

I somewhat agree. As a young college student, I recognize that some students have very poor writing skills. In some cases, they never paid attention in their English classes–which leads me to believe they will be less receptive in the future.

However, I place much of the blame on teachers. I learned a few basic grammar rules in late high that I should have known in junior high.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing.

The point of language is COMMUNICATION. If we can understand what they’re saying, then it doesn’t matter if the put the “I” first or the “E” first.

u can raed tihs wreid snecnete cnt u

You understand what they are saying, and that is the entire purpose of language. I do agree that when they do things that make it HARDER to understand, it makes it a little scary.

iP w|\|30 j00!!1!!1!!11!!

Now that is hard to understand.

THAT is defeating the point of language.

But just writing shorthand, is perfectly acceptable.

hey how ru?

More efficient, less time, a lot better.

I agree with you, but then my parents used to say the same thing about my generation. They also used to make negative comments about our taste in music and clothing, etc.

One thing that does concern me though is how little people of all ages know about geography. People can’t find their own country on a globe!

Its not emphasized in school like it used to be….. remember writing class, not how to write a story either—- handwriting class w/ lined paper… remember actually writing on the chalkboard….. Love to learn!

Personally, I feel my grammer is fine. Im not scared. There’s plenty of other things to be scared of. Im scared about maniac people/students. There are PLENTY of other things to be scared of. You should be scared of wars, murders, and so much more. So no, grammer is the least of my worries for the future.

Well, when I type, I make sure that I am grammatically correct. Others who type incorrectly do not really sound smart.

Well, if you teach your children right and teach them how to speak properly, you’ll wouldn’t have this problem.. This your fault! And why I don’t have kids..yet…:)

That is the truth! Whoever puts thumbs down is just wants to hide from it! Parents need to teach their children right!
