This would make both sides zero. So, you get 0 is greater or less than zero? It would not satisfy the inequality sign.

If you did, then you’ll just have 0=0 or 00 as your answer for every inequality

You can only multiply both sides by zero if one side divides by zero.

Only do onto one side of an inequality as you would onto the other, but make sure that there is a zero in the problem in the first place before doing any inverse operations dealing with zero.

When you are solving an inequality your objective is to solve for the variable. Multiplying by zero gets rid of all the terms, and always gives you the same answer (zero). Of course, mathematically it is correct, that if you multiply both sides by zero you will get like answers, but when you are trying to solve for a variable, that really doesn’t do us any good does it? It would be like trying to balance a scale by putting nothing on each side. The scale is balanced, but it’s not telling us anything that we would like to know.

A number multiplied by zero IS zero, so your answer would look like this: 0=0 , This would not be an INEQUALITY then!

because if you mulitply both sides by zero, than the problem would have no solution.
