They plundered the English, Irish and French coastal towns and monasteries. Looting a great wealth of gold and silver. There trade empire stretched from Norway and Iceland to Russia and the Mediterranean region.
The Vikings Kings became very wealthy and buried the vast quantities of silver in wooden bowels and boxes all around Scandinavia.
Today, a thousand years later some of the hoards are being discovered in Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
The act of burying ones treasure has became known as hoarding. Today we think of hoarding as meaning to keep things for our selves and not sharing.

Or you could hoard money-keep it for yourself; again, in a selfish manner.
