Teens/Tweens: Please answer me this question about rules in school…?

I homeschool my 9 year old son. He recently got a pair of Heeley’s for his birthday. He wants to wear them to our school. I don’t think he should because I think he’ll disrupt class. I told him I was sure that other kids were not allowed to wear Heeley’s in public or private schools. He did not think I was right. Can you please tell me the rule in your school about wearing Heeley’s? Thank you very much!

Heely’s are not allowed in my school. If you use them in our school, you get a detention and you have to change your shoes. Someone can get hurt if he doesn’t know how to use them properly. He can knock someone over. Personally, I don’t think it’s good to use heely’s in any public place. Going “skating” on your street is a nice thing to do though.

I’m not a Teen/Tween, I’m a teacher and I know that Heeley’s are not allowed allowed in our entire School District, let alone our school.

It becomes a major safety hazard.

It’s comparable to wearing rollerblades in the halls, or skateboarding.

They’re not allowed in our school. Actually, you could make a list of rules and consequences and post them where they can be seen by everyone in your class. Run it just like a regular school with a schedule and every thing. My sister just started a private school and she made a schedule and rules for herself too. I thought it was a good idea. I know this is a little long, but I hope it helps some. Good Luck!

Hate to break it to you, but we could wear them at my school. I only knew one kid who would actually roll on them, the halls were usually too crowded to move much.

I do know our bowling alley doesn’t allow those types of shoes, but thats the only place of business that has placed a sign regarding them.

I don’t see what the big deal is, they are just shoes. Maybe have a trial run and let your child know that he can wear them but he can’t wheel around on them in public places.
