First you go to a regular 4 year college and get a bachelor degree in biology with a 4.0 GPA, you take a big exam called the mcat which give you a score you use to apply to medical school. If you get in with your 4.0 GPA and super high mcat score and do very well during the interview process you go for 4 more years. After you graduate medical school you take more exams to become board certified to be a practicing physician. Then you work for a hospital as a resident for 4 years rotating throughout the different areas of the hospital from adults, ER, pediatrics, ICU. If you want to be a pediatrician that’s an additional 2-4 years residency with more board exams. Then you finally get to be a pediatrician.
