Beaker Tongs: You could fall and impale yourself on them.

Retort Stand: You could fall and impale yourself on it.

Funnel: You could get your finger stuck in it.

Test Tube: You could get it lodged in your throat.

Beaker: Same.

Granulated cylinder: Same.

Ring Clamp: You could clamp your fingers, toes, etc.

Test Tube Brush: Lodged in throat.

Scoopula: Same.

Thermometer: You could fall and impale yourself on it.

Sorry, i can’t give all safety measure for all equipment because i am not familiar with some of the equipment, even when i already look at pictures of it, because in my school, the lab still use basic equipment since it’s in Indonesia.

Test Tube:

When testing or more likely heating a chemical, aim the mouth of the test tube away from you and other people, so the chemical won’t spill and then injure other people when accidentally burst or spill out.

Beaker Tongs:

When carrying the beaker with the tongs, hold it on the mouth of the beaker, so it won’t fall easily.

Scoopula:

Hold the scoopula as far away from the end as possible to avoid the chemical from your hand.

Strive to Survive
Lab equipment not being clean (hazardous)

Beaker tongs may not be strong and therefore will drop items causing yet another hazard.

Retort stand may break, or fall off.

Funnel may have a hole and leak chemicals.

Test Tube may be dropped if not taken care of correctly.

Beaker may be chipped.

Graduated Cylinder may also be chipped or explode if in not right temperatures.

Ring clamp may not hold on or have a tight enough grip.

Test Tube Brush may be dirty itself, or contain chemicals off of it and expose it to others which can be a real harm.

Scoopula might drop some chemical or equipment if not shaped correctly or melted.

Thermometer may be broken or not correct if it’s not placed in the correct temperature in order for it to function correctly.

for the glass pieces, like beakers, cylinders, etc., it would be breaking under extreme changes in temperature. say if you heat it and then suddenly cool it. it might produce hairline cracks that is not visible to the naked eye, so the next time those equipments are used, they’ll break.

Beaker tongs can get hot

Same thing for retort stand

Funnel can clog and overflow

Test tube can break

Same with beaker and thermometer
