Start with humor. Let the audience warm up to you before you give them a bunch of facts. I don’t know any wine jokes, but I’m sure there’s thousands of them out here in internet-land.

Aside from that, here’s my top 10.

1.) Don’t start with “my name is…” Save that until you’ve got their interest.

2.) Recognize special guests/hosts.

3.) Make eye contact; don’t stare down at your notes the whole time.

4.) Don’t apologize–ever. If you mess up, move on.

5.) Practice in front of a mirror. You’ll feel silly, but you’ll be glad you did.

6.) Vary your speaking speed, volume and pitch. Monotone voices put people to sleep.

7.) Emphasize key points with personal stories if possible.

8.) If practical, use visual aids–in moderation.

9.) Don’t panic. The more relaxed you are, the better.

10.) Don’t end with “that’s it” or it’s eqivalent. Say “thank you” instead.

Mr. Fancy Pants
When ever I give a speech and think to myself that the guy before is boring douche and I can do better, even thou it is not true it works. I would say something since the beginning of Civilization Wine has been with man, like talk about the Greeks and say something like even today through the times and trails of life it still stands by us. Like man wine has had its ups and downs like prohibition and so on

I found it’s always easiest to start out in public speaking by saying something funny to “break the ice” so to speak.

You should say something on the line that rhymes with wine.

Welcome everyone, I’m glad to be here, I’ve walked around the room and noticed a few of you aren’t as happy to be here (tonight/today) as myself, so go ahead and wine, you’ll feel better. (That’s just one of my favorite sayings, I have a plaque hanging in my kitchen that says that.

Try googling “Tuscan or wine ryhmes and see if you can come up with something.

Always make people laugh, you can’t go wrong and who doesn’t just love wine?

Have fun:)

Wine, a word that often brings images of late night dinners or a bottle in a paper bag, Yet there is more to this teaser of taste buds than just wet lips and full stomachs , light headiness , corks and cork screws.

Bring wine to school, and at the start of your speech, sip some and say “mmm…delicious”.
