18-2y /4>3/2(y+1/3)>_3/2-1/2y
is really two different inequalities:
18-2y /4>3/2(y+1/3) and 3/2(y+1/3)>_3/2-1/2y
let’s solve them that way to avoid confusion:
18-2y /4>3/2(y+1/3)
18-2y > 4*3/2(y+1/3)
18-2y > 6(y+1/3)
18-2y > 6y + 6/3
18-2y > 6y + 2
18> 6y+2y +2
18-2>8y
16>8y
2>y
3/2(y+1/3)>=3/2-1/2y
3/2(y+1/3) +1/2y>=3/2
(3/2+1/2)y + 3/2*1/3 >=3/2
4/2y + 1/2 >= 3/2
2y + 1/2 >= 3/2
2y>= 3/2 – 1/2
2y >= 2/2
2y >= 1
y >= 1/2
2>y>=1/2
