If you have to type it out, it should at least be a page and a half depending on how fast you say your speech.

Some topics are:

-A eulogy

-First time riding your bike (or whatever you want it to be)

-A trip you took

-A funny story about something that happened a long time ago

-A weird experience

Those are just a couple of random ideas I came up with. However, if all else fails, read up on a current event and do an informative speech about it. Basically all you will be doing is telling the audience about what happened.

A good book? Favorite band?

The court is wide open, you just have to have 5 minutes worth of material. That can be the rough part. Pretend it has to be 8 or 10, and use notecards to remind you about high points if you can’t read from a written speech. Avoid talking fast, talk at a normal pace….

Or you could do a speech on the importance of recycling and saving energy. That is a hot topic right now.

Another interesting topic would be the evolution of *mainstream* hip hop. It began in 1979/80, started out as something political and thought-provoking, and then it turned into the corny, useless, manufactured “gangsta” music that you hear now.

You could google all these topics. Just fill up 9 or 10 regular sized notecards with the info.

How old are you and where are you doing the speech?

It was the class favorite…My professor remembered it every time he saw me….It wasn’t racy or anything, but it was funny….

Usually the funny topics are the most memorable and the most fun to give….
