Last weekend, I went for a visit with my brother-in-law and his daughter, Katie. As I drove down the turnpike, past the shipyard, I thought of Katie as being a self assured, quick witted, cheerleader. Yes, Kattie is a houshold name around Dewberry. This was a daytime trip, so I wasn’t able to enjoy the wildlife along the highway that I normally get to see. As a grandparent, in a wheelchair, I am not able to keep up with everybody, but I like to go to Katie’s basketball games and delve in the limelight with her. On my way, I stopped off at a local store for some first-aid supplies and to buy something special for Katie. The saleperson met me at the door holding a test tube filled with a chemical. I didn’t ask, but I am certain it looked like a homemade cleanser of some sort. Though I found that to be extraordinary, I made my purchase and was on my way. The newscast on the radio said that it would be a great weekend. The weather man was right, and whoever said junior high school was no fun, just didn’t live at all.
