I have a problem for my math homework that I cannot figure out.?

I can get the answer with my calculator because I have some special programs, but I need to show work and I can’t figure out how to do it.

Here it is:

(1 / (x-2)) + (3 / (x + 3)) = (4) / ((x ^ 2) + x – 6)

What I tried to do was multiply both sides by (x-2) and (x+3) to get rid of the denominator on the right side, but that means I have to multiply a quadratic function by (x-2) and (x+3) which is a quadratic function. It just gets really confusing. Anyone know an easy way to do this? I would appreciate a step by step answer.

Thanks in advance.

x^2+x-6 is actually (x-2)(x+3). If you multiply throughout by this,

(x+3) +3(x-2) = 4

or x+3+3x-6 =4

4x=7

x = 7/4
