How was the metric system developed?
Explain how the metric system was developed. I can find where the metric system was developed by not HOW. Help please.

From what I remember it was based on the quantity of distilled water that would fit inside a cube. The cube became a cubic centimeter, the volume of water became a centiliter, and that weight became a gram (maybe, I’m not sure about the weight thing)
Oh, the water must also be at the right temperature.
Anyway, that’s what I remember from 4th grade.
