You need to recognize and understand the values to the right of the decimal point: tenths, hundredths, thousandths, etc. For as many places with numbers there are to the right of the decimal point, use that many zeroes after a 1 and divide the number after the decimal point, ignoring the decimal point, by this number. For example .6 ==> one number so use 10 as your divisor and = 6/10 (=3/5) Another: .31 ==> two numbers so use 100, and = 31/100. A third: .07 ==> two numbers so use 100, and = 7/100

okay, you have to divide the top number- numerator- by the bottom number- denominator.

i.e. – 8/10 = 0.8; 7/9 = 0.7777… .

Since someone already said this, I’ll give you some extra knowledge that will also be useful in the future:

To make decimals into percents, move the dot- decimal point- to the right two places.

i.e. – 0.8 = 80%; 0.777… = 77.777…%

To find the score of a test ( or any percentage of 100 in general), take the answers you got right over the total answers and cross multiply.

i.e. – _3_ = _x_ multiply crosswize so you

15 100 end up with: 15x = 300

So, next finish the equation.

_15x_ = _300_

15 15

——————–

x = 20% correct answers.

hope that wasn’t too complicated and beside the point…

To change a decimal to a fraction you have to pay attention to the decimal places.

for example: change 0.5 to a fraction, you have to count the decimal places and the 5 is in the tenths place so when you write your fraction it would look like these:

5/10

I hope it helps!! =D

Convert it to obvious fraction by dividing by 10, 100, 1000, etc., then reduce to common fractions.

.375 –> 375/1000 = 3/8

.16667 = 16667/100000 = 1/6
