Well, to me it’s all a matter of conditioning. Meaning, it’s whatever you’re used to. Like, if your homeschooled friend were to go to public school after being home schooled for her whole life, it would probably be miserable for her. But you, who have always been in public school, are probably ok with it… and maybe even enjoy a little bit of the element of drama it brings to your life. If you were to switch to being homeschooled now you probably wouldnt enjoy it, the individual attention that homeschooling brings would cause you to become frustrated and annoyed. You might also find it sort of dull and uneventful.

I hope that helped.

If you’re still feeling torn, why don’t you ask to come see what a typical school day is like for her… and maybe that’ll make it easier to understand.

Our children chose home schooling because they learn at a more accelerated rate, the get done early in the year, we have better incentives than any public school can offer, there’s no bullying, threats, theft, harassment of any type, no teachers to humiliate or play favorites.

Our children are also intelligent enough to know that friends, especially in public schools, mean nothing. Friends aren’t all that loyal and will screw them over at the first available opportunity.

Zero tolerance is impossible in any school whether it be public, private, or christian. After the crap our kids have had to put up with they absolutely will not go to schools any more. We ask them every year and the answer is always no.

We are however, insulted by other parents for it. But there is an amazing amount of irony in those parents sending their kids to public schools. No matter how bad or good the school is, when that kid has a knife in his/her back or a bullet in his lung, or is ambushed after school by other students, then come back and whine to me about how good public schooling is.

Our oldest one was beat on for being quiet. Our youngest one was getting his lunches stolen. When we confronted the principal and the teachers all they could say was, “Unless we catch the student striking your child or stealing there’s nothing we can do.”

This schools teachers are nothing more than glorified babysitters. People complain to us about our children getting no socialization. Read the site I’m sending you below, then someone preach to me about socialization issues. Our children could care less about friends. Seriously. I was the same way. Later in life will these friends pay your bills, feed your family, help you in your time of need? Like hell they will unless there is a price attached.

i think public school is better because the person has friends and direct contact with people their own age. i work with a guy who is 18 and is homeschooled and he is a little weird, he can’t stand still and has to be constantly doing something and he is not very polite to the customers, which he doesn’t notice that he is being rude.

It really depends on the kid. Some kids do better with a flexible environment. Some do better in a social learning environment.

What is best for your friend is not necessarily best for you. =)
