I can tell you that the people who have lower tier jobs generally do not dress well. Those i have seen dress better actually have received promotions, etc because management recognizes the little more effort (e.g. clothing styles) as a positive sign.
For example, certain types of shoes(Manilows I think…I only know because it was in a National Geographic article about the evolution of footwear) are known to fans as ‘limo shoes’ because they look beautiful, but are absolutely not made for walking. But women who are concerned with looking good do not mind sacrificing their comfort. If they are not so much concered about looking good as much as fitting in, that is another point about their character that may be addressed.
You could look to your peers as examples. What kind of people wear ‘in’ shoes and branded clothes, and what kind of people wear comfortable sneakers and cotten tees are a start.
Example- when a women wears very revealing clothes- it shows she is a sl*t. If a person dresses like a slob- they aren’t neat and organized.
