%100 + %50 = %150
if %150 = 96 what is %100 ( the original price)
150 96 (price after the %50 increase)
—– = —–
100 x (price before the %50 Increase)
we cross multiply
150x = 9600
divide each side by 150 then you get
x = 64
so back to the equation
%100 + %50 = %150
64 + 32 (half the %100) = 96
Let x = cost before change
x + (50% of x) = .96
x + .5x = .96
1.5x = .96
x = .64
price before was 64 cents per pound
You should REALLY learn how to do these, this one is really easy. Also run a spell check next time please. Good Luck.
You know the price increased by 50% so
x + .5x = .96
1.5x = .96
x = .96/1.5
x = $.64 and that is the only answer!!!
Plug it in to make sure that it works:’
$.64 + 1/2($.64) = $.64 + $.32 = $.96 Which is correct. $.48 does not make sense!!!
heres why.
the cost before the increase was x. so the increase was .5x which is 50% of x.
50% of 64 is 32.
64+32=96
half of 64 is 32
64 +32= 96
