If they are asking you what the argument of f(x) is, the answer is -2. If they are asking what the evaluation of the function f(x) is, the answer is below based on f(-2)…

f(x) = x3 – 3

(I’m assuming that x is to the power of 3, not multiplied by 3)

f(-2) = (-2)3 – 3

f(-2) = -8 – 3

f(-2) = -11

Or, if x is multiplied by 3…

f(x) = x3 – 3

f(-2) = (-2)3 – 3

f(-2) = -6 – 3

f(-2) = -9

f(x)= x^3 – 6x^2 – 15x + ninety f'(x) = 3x^2-12x-15 to locate the place the functionality is incresing or lowering, first resolve 3x^2-12x-15=0 x^2-4x-5=0 (x-5)(x+a million)=0 x=5 or x=-a million evaluate right here periods: (-?,-a million), (-a million,5)(5,?) pick ‘any’ quantity from each and all of the above periods and learn the sign of f'(x). If f'(x) < 0, f(x) is lowering on that era. If f'(x) > 0, f(x) is increasing on that era. (-?,-a million) : pick -2: f'(-2) =21 > 0, so f(x) is inxrreasing (-a million,5) : pick 2: f(2) = -27 < 0, so f(x) is lowering (5, ?): pick 10: f(10)=a hundred sixty five, so f(x) is increasing. subsequently, The given functionality is increasing on (-?,-a million) lowering on (-a million,5) increasing on (5, ?):

-11 is the answer, but x=2 in this case (-2^3)-3

substitute -2 for x

if it was, for example, f(-3), it’d be (3^3)-3 or 24 and x would equal 3
