Finding x-intercept given two points?

How would you find the x-intercept given A (-6,1) and C (-4,-5)?

(Answer not necessary, explanation is most important)

That kind of depends on what kind of curve this is. If it is a line then

m=(-5-1)/(-4+6)=-6/2=-3

y=-3x+b

1=-3*-6+b

b=19

y=-3x+19

(y-19)/-3=x

x intercept is 19/3

if this is not a line we need to know what it is.

Use the factor slope formula: y – y1 = m(x – x1) you could plug in the two (-22.8, -34.2) or (40 4.2, -25.2) for x1 and y1 y -34.2 = -3(x – 25.2) y – 34.2 = -3x + 25.2 y = -3x + 109.8 as a result interior the type y = mx + b; b =109.8 that’s the y intercept.
