Planning is indeed important.

My doctoral dissertation had about 65,000 words in it – about 200 pages.

At about 320 words per page in APA format, you are looking at *maybe* 45-50 pages. For a dissertation?

I don’t think so.

Also, asking if anyone has done a paper or an article on Jane Eyre is really the focus of chapter 2 in your 5 chapter dissertation – a review of the existing literature. It’s up to you to do countless hours of tireless research to discover just that.

Do you have a dissertation chairman who is meeting with you to discuss these matters? It sounds as if you are ready to start trying to write without having a research question, a crystallized topic, an outline, a study type, etc.

Look into Galvan’s book on literature reviews to help you in that area – skinny book – very helpful.

If you need more help, please ask. It’s a huge undertaking and going into it unprepared will complete frustrate you.
