Can someone tell me the difference between the two?

For an assignment I have to do a character analysis and for the assignment we are asked to make a summary of the character’s personality and the characteristics of the character. I really do not understand the difference between characteristics and personality. I am the type that learns by examples and if you can include some examples the would help a lot.

Characteristics may be just statistics. Whereas personality involves a person’s behavior and their outlook on life. Personality is much harder to define, and may involve interpretive adjectives which not everyone might agree with. For instance, what is “honest”?

If you were to overhear someone say, “Hey, that person’s sure got plenty of personality,” what would that bring to mind?

It would mean they don’t hide themselves, they’re very outfront about letting others know who they are.
