can someone explain the monkeys paw?
okay i know its pretty basic but the ending is confusing? why doesn’t mr.white want herbert to come in? is he a zombie or something? and why does he run out to the gate at the end? and whats with everyone saying its so gory? the short story i red wasnt at all.

The Monkey’s paw is cursed in that it grants you exactly what you wish for. When, in her grief, Mrs White asks for her son to come back she doesn’t realise, as Mr White does, that Herbert will be in exactly the state he was in when he died. Remember he died in an accident at the saw mill. He will not be the person he once was, but dreadfully mutilated. And yes like the living dead – a zombie.
I read that story over 30 years ago and it still gives me the shivers. The horror lies in your imagination and the moral is be careful what you wish for.
