Tennis is a fun sport to play.

Nintendo Wii, is an addictive game for teenagers and adults.

Can you give me three reasons why “Tennis is a fun sport to play.”, “Math is a challenging subject.”, “and Nintendo Wii, is an addictive game for teenagers and adults.” but in third person please. I can do it easily in first person, but they wan me to do it in third person, and I am stuck.

Do you know what it is to write in 3rd person? So far you’ve written them in the 1st person because it’s assumed that you think that math is hard, tennis is fun and Wii is addictive because no one else is mentioned in the sentence.

If you don’t have any specific people in mind you could write things like “Some people think that sports are fun.” and “Some kid and adults can’t get away from video games.” then find facts that prove that point. Notice that I didn’t use the pronouns “I” or “you”. If I did then those sentences would’ve been written in the first and second person. Also notice that I didn’t just say sports are fun because that would be me writing in the first person again.

Basically…

1st person = About me

2nd person = About you

3rd person = About him/her/ some other group of people out there

Hope this clears up your confusion. (Me writing in 2nd person)

Hope this clears up someone’s confusion. (Me writing in 3rd person)

Don’t forget to find facts that prove your point!! Look for statistics online or ask people that are involved in those activities what they think about them.

Just write your reasons in first person and then switch those into third person.

If nintendo Wii is an addictive game for teenagers and adults because I spent the last four hours whooping some serious Hyrulian butt, then look up a statistic for the average hours of video game play in teens/young adults and change the sentance to “Nintendo Wii is an addictive game for teenagers and adults because studies show that blank% of teens and young adults spend at least blank hours playing video games”, or something like that.

Third person means using an omniscent point of view — the he-she-it form.

Why would they have you put answers to these questions in third person? Oh well, here’s one for “Math is a challenging subject”:

Even Albert Einstein, the brilliant scientist, struggled with math as a child. He failed seventh grade math!
