Paul Revere was at the North Church when he saw the British ships approaching. He hopped on his horse and woke the townspeople saving our *** yelling “The British are coming (repeat)”.

Just prior to that the king of England sent tea to us, so as a sign of being fed up with his high taxes, be dumped the tea into Boston Harbor…aka Boston Tea Party.

We then ticked him off by declaring our “Declaration of Independence”. That was the last straw…here comes the ships…there goes Paul on his horse.

Hope this helps.

British-American colonists became angered by their government’s arbitrary application of the law and taxation. They couldn’t get a fair hearing in court, could not get justice when needed. The First Continental Congress in 1775 laid out a set of grievances to the Crown. Britain responded by sending military forces to seize the arms of the colonists and fighting ensued, beginning with the Boston Massacre. The Second Continental Congress in 1776 repeated the list of grievances with an important modification – this time, the Colonies decided that their own government had become their enemy so they were to separate and form their own nation.
