Algebra 2 question??

Salina earned more than Tyler selling newspaper subscriptions. At the end of the day, Salina was given $1 as the slaes bonus and Tyler spent $3 on snacks. When they returned home, they had a total of $12. How much money did Tyler earn selling newspaper subscriptions?

I am confused. Can you please show me how to do this problem or at least give me the equation to start off with, I can slove grom there.

Thanks

Favorite Answer

S=salina T=Tyler

Total 12

So you have Salina with an extra $1

So s+1

Tyler spent 3

So t-3

add together because you know both earnings equal 12

s+1+t-3=12

simplify

s+t-2=12

add 2 to each side

s+t=14

Now from here you can solve….

1. If they were equal, then they would each have 7, but it explains that Tyler spent 3…So Tyler would then have 4 and Salina (because of the extra1) should have 8…

To check this 8+4=12
