Would you use pirated curriculum…..?

My daughter wants to learn French this year. One of the women that I work with is a french major(she only works here one day a week) so is going to act as a tutuor. Yesterday I went in to work and one of the young guys that I work with says ” I have the french program that you want( Rosetta stone). Only catch is that it is pirated–what would you do?

Don’t do it, because it is really taking a chance. Rosetta Stone costs around $200.

My daughter is also learning French. I found French lessons Online for FREE.

Here are the 2 websites:

www.frenchassistant.com (requires a pass and ID, but it costs nothing)

www.bonjour.com (don’t have to do anything and doesn’t need a password)

My daughter is also learning Chinese, German and Spanish all online for FREE. I am learning Japanese for FREE.

I make my own flashcards for everything by simply get a 250 count of blank index cards (available at a Dollar Tree store).

Good luck and have fun

I wouldn’t do it. It is against the law and even though chnaces are you wouldn’t get in trouble don’t you think your conscience will get the better of you? I know it would with me. Just keep looking around and do some searching. They do have freebies out on the net. It is just a matter of putting in the right words in the search engine. There are so many things out there, but takes time and research to find them.

You need to pass on it, since it is not only against the law, but what kind of precedence, or example would that be setting for your daughter?

If you developed something, put your time, and resources into it, marketed the product, and it was to be your income, would you want someone to “steal” your work, and deprive you from future income, or royalties?

Something to think about.

I would not take it. That’s just how I am. Or if I were afraid to make a fuss, I’d take it, then destroy it when the guy wasn’t looking.

As a language teacher, I can say that your daughter is best off with a breathing teacher. But there’s nothing wrong with supplementing with software (whatever your ethical persuasions are).

Don’t do it, not only can you get caught, but it is wrong even if you don’t get caught.
